Guidelines for publication endorsement by EuSoMII

General guidelines

  1. If applicable papers should follow international reporting standards as suggested by the EQUATOR network (https://www.equator-network.org/)
  2. Publication to an ESR journal (European Radiology, Insights into Imaging, European Radiology Experimental) is suggested but is not mandatory

Category 1: Statement and guideline papers

Manuscript types

  1. Manuscripts originating within EuSoMII – with authors only from EuSoMII
    1. The scientific committee needs to be kept updated (via email to secretary and members) by the lead/corresponding author about the planned topic and the proposed timeline.
    2. The final version of the manuscript needs to be submitted to the secretary of the scientific committee who will in turn distribute to all members of the scientific committee for approval and potential comments. Approval will be given with majority voting within the scientific committee.
  2. Manuscripts from external groups seeking endorsement
    1. Endorsement to these publications will be given only by including EuSoMII as group authorship. Group authorship “on behalf of EuSoMII” should be added as last author. Under the group authorship, members of EuSoMII who participated in the evaluation of the manuscript should be listed as authors.
    2. The final manuscript needs to be submitted to the scientific committee for evaluation. Members with appropriate expertise will be assigned for the evaluation of the manuscript. These will be listed under the group authorship as authors of the manuscript*. Approval will be given with majority voting within the scientific committee.

Category 2: Research – review papers & meta-analyses

Manuscript types

  1. Manuscripts originating within EuSoMII – with authors only from EuSoMII

  2. Manuscripts from external groups seeking endorsement
    1. Endorsement to these publications will be given only by including EuSoMII as group authorship. Group authorship “on behalf of EuSoMII” should be added as last author. Under the group authorship, members of EuSoMII who participated in the evaluation of the manuscript should be listed as authors.
    2. Prior to manuscript preparation the authors need to submit a short description of the intended project including the author list and the proposed timeline (the project template should be completed – this can be found on EuSoMII’s website together with the endorsement guidelines). This needs to be submitted to the scientific committee for evaluation and preliminary approval*. Approval will be given with majority voting within the scientific committee.
    3. At the end of manuscript preparation, the final manuscript needs to be submitted to the scientific committee for evaluation. Members with appropriate expertise will be assigned for the evaluation of the manuscript. These will be listed under the group authorship as authors of the manuscript. Approval will be given with majority voting within the scientific committee.
    4. Manuscripts which have not been submitted as a template prior to the initiation of the project will be generally rejected without further consideration. Justified explanations of the deviation from the guideline should be submitted in writing.

*Author names

Please note that group EuSoMII authorship needs to be added to all external papers endorsed by EuSoMII. This group will include the names of all relevant EuSoMII members who contributed to the evaluation of the manuscript.
